Features and Performance
The KC143 is extremely lightweight, which is great for smaller users. Weighing just 13kg, users are able to easily move this bike wherever they see fit. Upon unpacking, you’ll find all of the tools needed for assembly included. Unlike most models, the instructions provided are very accurate, so you won’t have to waste any time with assembly.
In total, it took about 20 minutes to assemble this bike.
After assembly, you’ll want to place the battery into the monitor before doing anything else. As an added bonus, the manufacturer includes the battery for you.
Adjusting the seat is the next step. Behind the seat on the frame, you’ll find the adjustment knob which you’ll remove to move the seat up and down. You want to ensure a proper height to keep undue stress off of your knees and allow you to ride freely.
Handlebars are not adjustable, so you’ll only need to adjust the pedal strap before going on your first ride.
The seat is not the best. Unfortunately, heavy riders will have a sore bum after riding, but this is common with most bikes. If you plan on riding for more than 40 minutes at a time, I suggest swapping out the seat for something with a little more cushion.
Upon pedaling, you’ll notice that the noise production is very low. This is great for anyone biking early in the morning that doesn’t want to wake up the whole house. Directly in front of you will be the tension knob. Turn this dial to the right to increase the tension and provide a rigorous workout in the process.
The on-board display will show you the following:
- Scan
- Time
- Distance
- Speed
- Calories Burned
These are great metrics if you’re trying to lose weight or build stamina. The calories burned is fairly accurate, but we should point out that the timer resets after 100 minutes. If you want to ride for over 100 minutes at a time, you’ll need to keep track of your time on your own. Thankfully, most riders will not have an issue with this.
Pros
- Amazing entry-price
- Great saddle height options
- Optimal resistance levels
- Very lightweight
Cons
- Saddle is uncomfortable
- Timer resets at 100 minutes
The small drawbacks we mentioned have been previously discussed. While not major faults by any means, these are two considerations to keep in mind when buying the Starshaper KC143.
If you’re wanting to lose weight or increase your stamina on a budget, the KC143 is a great option. Not only is this bike durable, but it’s small enough to fit in a flat and provide a great aerobic workout.
